TOMI to Install iHP System in New Avid Facility & Other Supplier News
Here’s what was new in the world of medical device suppliers during the week of October 9.
TOMI Environmental Solutions, a company specializing in disinfection and decontamination, announced it has received a purchase order for an ionized hydrogen peroxide (iHP) Custom Engineered System (CES) from Avid Bioservices. The order from Avid is for implementation in its new purpose-built viral vector development and manufacturing facility in Costa Mesa, CA.
The iHP CES is TOMIs premier Binary Ionization Technology platform through its SteraMist products – a hydrogen-based mist and fog.
Avid, an organization focused on CGMP manufacturing and development of biologics, is contracting a 53,000 sq ft CGMP building used for viral vector development and manufacturing. The company stated that it chose SteraMist due to its ability to decontaminate and disinfect the area four times faster than competition. Additionally, its low percentage (7.8%) iHP BIT solution provides superior material compatibility on surfaces, according to TOMI.
A SteraMist iHP Custom Engineered System will be implemented in four GMP manufacturing suites during the site development. To do this, it will require 11 applicators with a single control panel and a 55-gallon BIT solution container. TOMI is working with Avid for the installation, which has a projected finish date in the first half of 2023.
